George Sun, AIA, LEED AP

George graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from California Polytechnic of San Luis Obispo in 1988. He has been practicing architecture for over twenty years. Before he founded his firm Sun Architecture in 1998, he had worked on healthcare, educational, commercial, and residential projects in the U.S. and Asia.  He is an accredited professional in Leadership In Energy And Environmental Design (LEED AP).  He firmly believes that a good stewardship of our environment does not end with his professional practice but it is a way of life for him and his family.  He is also an adjunct faculty at College of San Mateo since 2007, teaching architecture design studio courses.

George immigrated from Taiwan when he was thirteen, and settled in Monterey, California with his parents. As a bilingual speaker of Mandarin and English, he is respectful of and sensitive to people's cultural and ethnic backgrounds and experiences. He enjoys learning about different cultural foods, music, and customs and has traveled to or lived in three continents.  In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, photography, learning to play the guitar, and cooking.  He is married, his wife Karen is a professor at a local Bay Area community college, and they are expecting their first child this spring.
